The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 36/37 to reconcile people around the world. At a time when new forces of division are spreading hatred and intolerance, global solidarity for peace has never been more important.
FPHCM joined the United Nations and the rest of the world in commemorating the day with a one-day Dialogue Forum on “The Role of Community Stakeholders in Shaping Peace”.
The forum explored the root causes of conflict, identified the roles community stakeholders play in the peace process, and promoted dialogue and reconciliation as a proactive approach to peace.
As a result, each conflicting party gained a clearer understanding of the root causes of conflict and of its own role as a community stakeholder in the peace process.
